Gleeks huddled together as they grabbed their dinner and anxiously awaited the premiere of the third season of the Fox hit, Glee.
What started as a slow night Tuesday soon picked up as more students arrived for the highly anticipated Glee Watch Party in Couch Cafeteria.
Due to the show’s immense popularity, the Glee Watch Party has become an annual event. The episodic musical is known for touching sensitive subjects like homosexuality, substance abuse and teen pregnancy. What sets Glee apart from other shows is it’s uncanny cast, atypical plots and witty banter.
“I’m tired of shows that you can predict every little thing… Glee is awesome and funny,” says Jaime Young, Bartlesville freshman.
The premiere built momentum over the summer as the next big Glee star was found on Oxygen’s The Glee Project. One of the finalists, Lindsay Pearce, made her Glee debut on tonight’s episode.
“I watched the [Glee Project] all summer,” Young says.
Although there was much hype for the premiere of Glee, the turnout for the event was low. Despite the numbers, the morale and enthusiasm was high and those in attendance were glued to their seats the whole time.
Glee may not be everyone’s favorite show, but for Gleeks it’s the only show to watch!
