SoonerVision to broadcast 150 live events in high definition
by   |  September 16, 2011  |

SoonerVision will broadcast 150 live events in high definition this year, with another 70 taped.

Of these 220 events, 25 of them will be broadcast on Oklahoma Cox Channels 3 and 703, said Brandon Meier, assistant athletic director for broadcast operations.

To achieve this production rate, 45 students have been added to the 60-strong workforce. SoonerVision has also upgraded its facilities. The two control rooms can operate the elaborate message boards at OU venues while sending out a production to television outlets at the same time.

“Popular live events, such as football and basketball, are recorded with 10 cameras,” said Kenneth Mossman, OU athletic department spokesman. “There are still 40 Web broadcasts shot with one camera only, but they will be phased out in three to four years.”
