Students donned their crimson and cream and Sooner spirit at the annual SAA and CAC homecoming pep rally.

As different organizations battled it out at the John Crain soccer field, friends and alumni filled the stadium with excitement.

“It was very close to an Oklahoma football game and not a lot of things compare to that,” says Grant Lenners, freshman from Imperial, Neb.

The pep rally included introductions of various OU athletic teams, performances from OU Cheer, OU Pom and other groups, the homecoming court and a dance competition between over 30 different OU organizations.

Though the pep rally is traditionally housed in the McCasland Field House, it was moved outdoors due to renovations. Despite the last minute change, students were still excited about the pep rally.

“I really liked it. I liked the weather and all the performances,” says Morgan Thorne, business pre-dentistry sophomore.

Under the Oklahoma sky, Sooners united in school spirit. This pep rally may not have been the usual pre-homecoming experience, but it still embodied OU and its dedicated fans.

“I thought the pep rally was amazing and all the groups did really well,” Lenner says.

The homecoming pep rally set the stage for the rest of the homecoming festivities. Everyone left the stadium jazzed and excited for the homecoming game against Texas Tech.
