An OU alumna has been recognized for her work to empower women in the workforce.
Terry Neese was awarded the Association for Women in Communications Matrix Foundation Award on Saturday.
The Matrix Foundation works to promote the advancement of women in the communications profession by providing funds for education, research and publications, according to a press release. The foundation works is conjunction with he Association for Women in Communications to carry out its educational and charitable goals, according to the press release.
Neese is an Oklahoma businessowner, as well as founder and CEO of the Institute for Economic Empowerment of Women, a nonprofit organization that empowers women to grow their businesses, pursue greater entrepreneurial ventures and become more active public policy advocates.
“Communicating the importance of economic stability and getting involved in public policy is the message I send to women businessowners around the globe. They are the leaders who take the knowledge and use it to improve the economic status of their own countries,” Neese said.
She was honored for her efforts to achieve peace in war-torn countries through economic stability, according to a press release.
