The Oklahoma Sooner baseball team will begin its postseason quest in NCAA regional play this weekend in Forth Worth, Texas, in hopes of returning to Omaha, Neb., for the College World Series.
The Sooners are the No. 2 seed in the Fort Worth regional, which includes host school and No. 1 seed TCU, No. 3 seed Dallas Baptist and No. 4 seed Oral Roberts.
The Sooners will face Dallas Baptist at 2 p.m. on Friday, with TCU and Oral Roberts facing off at 7 p.m.
OU is very familiar with all of the teams in the regional, having faced Dallas Baptist once and TCU twice this season. The Sooners lost to DBU in Norman on April 19, 3-2 and defeated TCU in both of their meetings with the Horned Frogs, 13-6 in Norman on April 12 and 7-4 in Fort Worth on April 26.
OU also faced Oral Roberts when they hosted a regional in postseason play last year.
The Sooners come into the tournament having won 11 of their last 15 games, including a 1-2 showing in the Big 12 Tournament this past weekend. Both losses were by one run to Kansas State.
Runs and timely hitting continue to be a problem for OU. The four losses in the past 15 games have come by a combined five runs.
The winner of the Sooners’ regional will face the winner of the Houston regional where No. 8 national seed Rice hosts Baylor, California and Alcorn State.
