“The concept of room service just came about from kind of observing our customers, seeing what they wanted, listening to them and responding,” says Lauren Royston, marketing and public relations specialist for housing and food services.
The delivery service is not limited to dorm delivery. Room service can be delivered to the residence halls, and even academic halls on campus.
“Most students use room service when they are not feeling well or when they are in a crunch for time studying and not wanting to go out,” Dave Annis, director of housing and food services says.
Cate ala Carte Room Service offers basic entrées such as subs, pizza, pasta and salad. However, what is not on the menu is food that is most craved in times of illness like soup or popsicles. According to housing and food officials, frozen foods, like popsicles, are hard to transport.
Typically, food is delivered to the first floor of the residence halls or the lobby of buildings around campus. Cate ala Carte accepts debit and credit cards as well as Sooner Sense and meal points.
Service starts at 11 a.m. and ends at 11 p.m. Monday through Sunday, during the regular academic year.
If you do not want to wait for room service, or do not have the time to wait, there are many dining options. Restaurants in Cate Food Court offer to-go options. If you want to try something other than what is listed on the Cate Room Service menu, some restaurants off-campus deliver to the residence halls. Chuck Weaver, director of food services, points out that other restaurants do not take meal points, like Cate ala Carte does. Many restaurants around campus and off campus take Sooner Sense instead, but not meal points, which many freshmen opt for.
