The No. 16 Nebraska Cornhuskers will be looking for revenge against the seventh-ranked Sooners on Friday at McCasland Field House.

Last season, the OU wrestling squad upset a talented Nebraska team, 22-15, in Lincoln.

“This is a Big 12 competition, which is always very important,” OU coach Jack Spates said. “Nebraska is a program that has been one of the best in the country. It’s going to be a war, and we are real eager for it. Our guys are wrestling well, and we are looking for that to continue on Friday.”

The grapplers from Norman haven’t had much trouble in the past against Nebraska; in fact, they lead the all-time series, 36-16-1.

It will be a reunion of smiles for Jarrod Patterson, Zach Bailey and Tyler Caldwell, who all recorded wins last year in the matchup against the men from Lincoln.

Like their ranking, the OU wrestlers boast seven ranked individuals for their matchup.

Tyler Caldwell leads the group with a No. 2 ranking at 165-pounds and has a 25-3 record this season. Zach Bailey (No. 6 at 141), Jarrod Patterson (No. 7 at 125) and Nathan Fernandez (No. 10 at HWT) also own top-10 individual rankings.

Chase Nelson sits at No. 11 at 157, Erich Schmidtke is No. 17 at 184 and Jordan Keller is No. 19 at 133.

Unlike Nebraska’s ranking, they only have three ranked individuals this week, but one of them is top-ranked Jordan Burroughs at 165.

Tucker Lane (HWT) and Josh Ihnen (184) will have tough competition and sit at No. 12 and No. 13, respectively.

The action is set for 7 p.m. Friday and is the first of four straight home duals.
