With 3.7 seconds on the clock, senior guard Cade Davis made a field goal from the corner that appeared to be a three-point shot but was called a two by the referees, sealing the victory for Nebraska, 59-58.

Oklahoma is now 12-13 this season, 4-7 in Big 12 play.

“I automatically assumed it was a 3,” said Davis. “I thought I knew where I was on the floor.”

The Sooners did what they could, but costly missed shots and turnovers caused them their fourth straight loss.

“Our inability to make plays is what hurts us,” said Jeff Capel.

Sophomore forward Andrew Fitzgerald led the Sooners with 15 points and five rebounds. However, he was no match for Nebraska center Jorge Brian Diaz, who led all scores with 17 points.

“It was a good battle down there,” Fitzgerald said. “I gave my all down there against him.”

Davis had 13 points, and sophomore guard Steven Pledger scored 11. Freshmen Cameron Clark and Carl Blair chipped in with eight and five points, respectively. Blair also dished eight assists.

Oklahoma came into this game matched up pretty poorly since the Cornhuskers play three guys 6-foot-10-inch or taller.

It was a tough battle for OU, but things just did not go in their favor. This is the last time the Sooners will face Nebraska in conference play, and it did not go as planned.

“We made a couple of mistakes that we will have to learn from now,“ Fitzgerald said.

Next up for OU will be the Kansas State Wildcats on Saturday in Manhattan, Kan.
