OU University Theatre announced its redesigned mainstage season this week after adding two opera productions to the schedule for the first time.
“The Coronation of Poppea” and Mozart’s “Don Giovanni” are the two operas selected to be part of the new season. The shows will be performed during the fall and spring semester, respectively. OU opera productions were not part of the mainstage University Theatre season.
The other shows to be performed during the 2011-2012 season are “Dracula,” “Sunday in the Park with George,” “The Nutcracker,” “Mary Stuart” and “Seussical the Musical,” as well as dance shows Young Choreographers’ Showcase and Contemporary Dance Oklahoma.
Two new subscription packages also are available for the approaching University Theatre season, according to a press release. The “Uber Package” offers patrons tickets to all nine mainstage productions, while the “Variety Package” allows patrons to choose one production from the drama, opera, dance and musical theater productions offered.
“Patrons can find great value with professional quality by purchasing a season subscription,” Rich Taylor, dean of Weitzenhoffer Family College of Fine Arts, stated in a press release.
Prices start at $175 for an adult “Uber Package” and $77 for an adult “Variety Package.” Student discounts are available, and students are also now able to charge University Theatre tickets to their bursar accounts.
