The Graduate College and other organizations will host a welcome week beginning Thursday for graduate students.
“The goal of welcome week is to acclimate new graduate students to the OU community and help them get comfortable on campus,” recruitment coordinator Clay Wesley said. “Also, this year is more focused. We really want to connect all graduate students with the university as a whole.”
Events kick off with the fourth annual reception and resource fair at 5 p.m. Thursday in Oklahoma Memorial Union’s Molly Shi Boren Ballroom. Attendees will have the chance to network with faculty and other students, according to a press release. Multiple student organizations and resources will be at the fair, according to the event description.
Other welcome week events include campus tours, a fair provided by OU Career Services, free breakfast and a cookout with the college Dean Lee Williams, according to the event calendar.
Between 450 and 500 students are expected to participate throughout the week, Wesley said. Online event registration is available, but it is not necessary.
“It’s something students don’t want to miss,” Wesley said. “This is a once-a-semester opportunity to network with students and faculty.”
