The incoming executive branch of student government will be sworn in Thursday in the Oklahoma Memorial Union’s courtyard.
The UOSA inauguration will feature speeches from current UOSA President Franz Zenteno and incoming UOSA President Hannah Morris, UOSA spokeswoman Emily Payne said. During the ceremony, the UOSA presidential gavel will be passed from Zenteno to Morris, symbolizing the transition between administrations.
The Campus Activities Council chair would normally be inaugurated Thursday as well, but the UOSA Superior Court must first validate the CAC runoff election’s results, Payne said.
The court heard a case Monday concerning the validity of CAC runoff election results after a grievance was filed against Melissa Mock regarding emails sent by her campaign staff to about 800 students, according to Daily archives.
After the ceremony, a reception will be held in the union’s Conoco Student Leadership Center, Payne said. Both the reception and ceremony are open to the public.
“[Students] will be able to get to know the new administration and share their ideas and concerns,” Payne said.
The inauguration starts at 4:30 p.m. Thursday.
