The OU women’s cross country team finished fifth out of fifteen teams in the Cowboy Jamboree Saturday in Stillwater because of a career-best performance from junior Molly Ferguson.
The team entered the weekend No. 13 in the USTFCCCA Midwest Regional poll.
Ferguson was dominant as usual, finishing first for OU for the second time this season and 14th overall with a time of 22:22.83. She bested her previous best in the 6,000-meter, a 22:46.90 at the Chile Pepper Invitiational in 2009.
Junior Annie Martine, making her OU debut, finished 16th. Freshman Hilary Krein, also in her OU debut, finished 32nd. Freshman Kelsey Brown and junior Natalie Crain rounded out the Sooner placers in 44th and 55th, respectively.
The Sooners will compete next Oct. 16 at the Chile Pepper Invitational in Fayetteville, Ark.
