In the spooky spirit of Halloween, the Union Programming Board is holding its annual Zombie 5K 6 p.m. today in the Oklahoma Memorial Union.
It’s not your traditional 5K.
“The goal is to survive,” said Zac McCullock, Union Programming Board co-chairman.
The Zombies will be in designated areas while the humans run, walk, jog or sprint in order to make it out alive, according to the board’s Facebook.
The fastest human to make it through, best surviving human, zombie with most kills and best human and zombie costumes will win prizes.
“It’s amazing how many people are into the zombie thing,” McCullock said.
More than 100 people have registered for the race as either a zombie or a human.
The Union Programming Board will have a free cookout and a screening of the movie “Zombieland” following the 5K.
The movie will be shown on the East Lawn of the Union following the race/walk.
“You can take part in the race or just the dinner and movie, we just want students to take part ... and dress up” McCullock said.
