Daily’s vote
The Nov. 2 election includes 11 state questions. The Daily will outline each question and form their opinion. Read more on SQ 746 and SQ 748.
SQ 746 — We say: YES
This initiative aims to reduce voter fraud by requiring all voters to present a valid state-issued ID. Right now, this isn’t a requirement, and it is easy to commit voting fraud.
SQ 748 — We say: NO
This measure would increase the size of the Apportionment Commission, which allocates districts when the Legislature cannot come to a consensus. The goal is to avoid partisanship, but there’s no precedent to believe the commission will be used, and we feel this will create more bureaucracy, wasting time and money.

SQ 746 is meant to disenfranchise poor voters. Vote NO on it. The editors clearly did no reading on the wealth of research explaining why ID requirements disproportionately hurt the poor.
