by   |  November 29, 2010  |

The No. 11 OU women's basketball squad claimed the 2010 Basketball Travelers Invitational Championship over the weekend in Norman to stay undefeated at 6-0.

The Sooners' next game will be at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Lloyd Noble Center against Sam Houston State.

OU beat opponents University of Texas Pan-American, Gardener-Webb and Prairie View A&M handily, allowing an average of 65 points during the tournament while scoring an average of 92 points.

Freshman guard Aaryn Ellenberg led all scorers in the Sooners' opening game of the tournament against UTPA with a career-high 26 points in the 116-66 romp of the Broncs. Ellenberg’s 26 points were the most scored by a freshman at OU since Courtney Paris scored 26 points in an NCAA tournament loss to Stanford on March 25, 2006.

Sophomore center Joanna McFarland recorded her first double-double of the season with 13 points and a career-high 15 rebounds.

The Sooners scored a season-high 60 points in the second half against UTPA. The 50-point margin of victory was the largest since Jan. 4, 2009, when OU decimated North Carolina Central 89-25 (64 points).

Senior guard Danielle Robinson took over the game against the Gardner-Webb Runnin’ Bulldogs with a team-leading 18 points. Ellenberg scored 14 points in the 84-75 win for her fifth game in double figures this season.

In the final game of the tournament, the scoring tandem of Ellenberg and Robinson dominated the box score. Ellenberg contributed 19 points in a decisive 78-55 win over the Prairie View A&M Panthers for her sixth double-figure scoring game of the season.

Robinson led all scorers with 26 points. She has led the Sooners in scoring in five of their first six games.
