Landry Jones: A
It seemed to be just another road game after sophomore quarterback Landry Jones threw a first-drive interception on a fourth-down attempt. However, Jones finished the game with 325 yards, three touchdowns and hit 26-of-39 targets.
Running backs: A-
Senior DeMarco Murray finished the game with 182 all-purpose yards and two touchdowns, while true freshman Roy Finch added another touchdown out of the backfield. True freshman Brennan Clay and senior Mossis Madu also saw some action. However, the four backs combined for only a 3.4 yards per carry average, keeping the unit from receiving a higher grade.
Wide receivers: A+
Junior Ryan Broyles finished with 113 yards and a touchdown from 12 receptions. True freshman Kenny Stills added 74 yards and a touchdown on four receptions, while true freshman Trey Franks continues to emerge as a reliable option for Jones.
Defensive line: A-
Baylor sophomore quarterback Robert Griffin III was under pressure all night with senior defensive end Jeremy Beal leading the way. The short-handed defensive line held Griffin in check and kept senior running back Jay Finley under 100 yards. Sophomore converted defensive end Ronnell Lewis also grabbed an interception.
Defensive Backs: A+
OU’s secondary held Griffin and the Bears in check all day, allowing Griffin only 124 passing yards. Furthermore, the quarterback had no easy targets as he went 20-for-33 and had just one touchdown. Even more impressive, Baylor’s leading receiver had just 37 yards.
Special Teams: A+
Junior kicker Jimmy Stevens converted all three field goal attempts, with a long of 33 yards, and nailed all six extra points. Sophomore punter Tress Way, in usual fashion, pinned Baylor twice within their own 20-yard line, and had a long of 56 yards. Baylor lost four yards on just two punt returns. The Sooners even added a safety on one kickoff. In short, the special teams did everything they were asked to and then some.
