Ree Drummond, Bartlesville native and blogger, will speak at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday in the Oklahoma Memorial Union’s Molly Shi Boren Ballroom.
Her first cookbook, “The Pioneer Woman Cooks” was published in 2009. In the same year, her blog was named Weblog of the Year at the 2009 Bloggies, an annual blog awards event.
Gaylord Ambassadors, a student representative organization for the journalism college, is hosting the event. Drummond is the group’s first speaker this year.
“She’s a good blend of the current trend of blogging, and since she has a cookbook and a novel coming out, she has a real tie to professional writing,” said Chris Borthick, Gaylord Ambassadors advisers.
Drummond graduated from the University of Southern California. On a visit back to her hometown, she met and fell in love with a cattle rancher, Ladd Drummond. The couple, along with their four children, live on a ranch outside Pawhuska.
Reese Witherspoon will play Drummond in an upcoming movie by Columbia Pictures. The blogger’s biography, “Black Heels to Tractor Wheels,” will be published by William Morrow and is due out Feb. 14.
