OU to compete with OSU in Bedlam Blood Drive
by   |  November 15, 2010  |

Rivals OU and Oklahoma State University compete for a new title this week: biggest blood donor.

Two schools will team up with the Oklahoma Blood Institute to host its inaugural Bedlam Blood Drive this week on the OU and OSU main campuses, collecting blood for 150 medical facilities across Oklahoma.

“We are creating a way to give blood and have the fun of competition,” said Leslie Gamble, director of community relations for the institute.

She said the winning school will receive a trophy at the end of the week.

Each donor will be rewarded for their contribution, too.

They will receive a free OU or OSU blood donor T-shirt, and will have a chance to win a pair of 2010 Bedlam football tickets for the game Nov. 27 in Stillwater or to win one of five autographed footballs.

“We encourage people to come donate and make a habit of donating,” Gamble said.

Anyone 16 years of age or older and in good health is encouraged to donate.

“The donation is voluntary,” Gamble said. “It saves lives and makes a difference in someone’s life.”
