Dance, music schools to perform
by   |  November 9, 2010  |

The School of Dance and the School of Music will host a performance of “Bartók Sonata and Carmina Burana” Nov. 19 through Nov. 21 in Sharp Concert Hall.

Pianists Stephanie Leon Shames and Jonathan Shames and percussionists Ricardo and Chrissie Souza will perform the “Bartók Sonata,” with choreography by Jeremy Lindberg. Béla Bartók, a Hungarian artist and pianist, is considered one of the most important composers of the 20th Century.

Several OU Choirs and the Oklahoma Festival Ballet will perform Carl Orff’s “Carmina Burana,” which was composed in 1935 and 1936, and is perhaps Orff’s best-known piece of music.

The performance is part of the Sutton Concert Series and will stage at 8 p.m. Nov. 19 and Nov. 20 and 3 p.m. Nov. 21. Tickets are $8 for adults and $5 for students, faculty, staff and seniors. For tickets, call 405-325-4101.
