The OU women’s golf team was in Austin this weekend as they competed in the Betsy Rawls Longhorn Invitational hosted by the University of Texas.
The Sooners shot a team total 953 (+89) over three rounds to finish 17th for the tournament.
The Rawls Invitational attracted a loaded field, with 15 of the top-50 golf teams ranked by Golfweek participating in the tournament.
Junior Ellen Mueller once again led the Sooners by shooting a solid 2-over par 74 in the final round. Mueller finished the tournament tied for 16th, Mueller’s 15th career top-20 performance, with a total 225 (+9).
Senior Andrea Sellmeyer shot an 82 (+10) on the final 18 to finish the tournament tied for 58th place with a total 238 (+22).
Freshman Taylor Schmidt continues to play solid golf for the Sooners shooting a 13-over on Sunday giving her a finish at 82nd place (248, +32). Sisters Chelsey and Brooke Collins were right behind Schmidt finishing tied for 83rd place with a three-round total of 250 (+34). Chelsey fired an 82 (+10) while Brooke rounded things out for the Sooners with an 85 (+13).
The UCLA Bruins took first place, shooting a team total 884 (+20), leading the 17-team field each day of the tournament. Other Big 12 schools at the invitational were Texas A&M, Texas and Texas B. They finished 3rd, 5th and 16th respectively.
The Sooners hit the links again as the women’s golf team heads to Oxford, Miss. for the Rebel Intercollegiate on April 2-4.
