Women's tennis gearing for conference play

The OU women’s tennis team hits the road to face the No. 72 College of Charleston this weekend, their longest road trip of the year.

The No. 36 Sooners defeated Wichita State March 5 to move to 8-1 on the year. Their only loss came at No. 15 Arkansas a week before the Wichita State match, but OU came back strong against the Shockers, winning 6-1.

Junior Tara Eckel will look to maintain her undefeated season in singles (9-0); she is the only Sooner to earn a point in every match this season. Eckel’s doubles team, along with Junior Maria Kalashnikova, is 8-1, also pacing the team.

The Sooners are off to their best start since being 8-0 in 2003. They have upset two top-40 teams and shut out five opponents.
