The top-ranked OU women’s gymnastics squad (11-0, 3-0 Big 12) clinched its seventh straight victory over a top-25 opponent with a 196.825-194.125 win at No. 23 Michigan State (9-5, 3-3 Big Ten) on Friday.
Pursuing perfection was the name of the game for OU sophomore Sara Stone during Friday night's match of No. 23 Michigan State when she posted a perfect 10 on vault. This is perfect score is only the 11th in program history.
The Sooners did not get down after posting a season-low 48.95 on bars.
Unwavering, OU went back to work and the Sooners continued to earn four individual titles.
Stone's perfect score saved the Sooners and gave them a 98.400-96.350 advantage at the halfway mark. Stone's score was the first perfect score by an OU gymnast since 2008.
On floor, Flanery anchored the lineup with a career-high-tying 9.95 en route to a 49.225 team tally.
OU closed the rotation with four scores of 9.8 or better, as Kristin Smith (9.9), Hollie Vise (9.875) and Megan Ferguson (9.8) all posted solid routines. The Sooners improved to 5-0 all-time against the Michigan State Spartans.
The Sooners are back to work next week when they will host one of the top teams in the nation when the No. 2 Alabama Crimson Tide come to Norman on Friday.
