After falling behind 6-1 in the sixth inning to the Clemson, the matchup between the Sooners and the Tigers has been rain delayed in the 2010 Men's College World Series in Omaha, Neb.

The game will resume at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday as OU plays catch-up against Clemson.

The rain delay is the second for the Sooners in the tournament.

Both teams remained scoreless through three innings. The Sooners struck first in the top of the fourth to end the deadlock with an RBI single to center field by sophomore shortstop Caleb Bushyhead to score sophomore right fielder Cody Reine, putting the Sooners up 1-0.

Reine had previously broken up a play at second on the stolen base attempt to advance into scoring position.

But Clemson unloaded in the bottom of the fourth, beginning with an RBI single over Bushyhead to tie the game. OU starter Bobby Shore was pulled after Clemson loaded the bases with no outs.

Freshman pitcher Jack Mayfield came into the game to relieve Shore for the Sooners with a 2.49 ERA.

Clemson tacked on three more runs before OU changed pitchers for the second time in the inning to bring in senior pitcher J.R. Robinson to close out the inning.

The Sooners finally closed out the inning after catching Clemson at home plate in the squeeze play with runners at the corners.

Clemson added one more run in the fifth inning on a triple off the center field fence and a single through the right side of the field to run the lead to 6-1 over the Sooners.

Two of the three seeded teams going into the tournament were knocked out following the first elimination games. The national No. 1-seed Arizona State was knocked off by South Carolina earlier this afternoon while No. 3-seeded Florida was knocked off by in-state rival Florida State during Monday's action.

This game was sad to watch. Pitching challenges coupled with simple mistakes (I mean really, dropping a ball in the outfield is just a poor mistake) really hurt any chance OU has of winning. I'm afraid now that OU will just go back into things with a defeated attitude and come out the same way they left last night. Guess we'll find out.
