COLUMN: Entourage season 7 preview
by   |  July 2, 2010  |

There’s no doubt that out of all of HBO’s original series’, “Entourage” is one of the most popular. Vince (Adrien Grenier) and the gang bring a certain aspect to the screen that mysteriously captivates the minds of viewers every Sunday. Since 2004, the gang of Vince, E, Turtle, and Drama has been living the Hollywood dream in one of the most highly rated shows in premium television history. With the sixth season ending on a high, but nerve racking, note, season seven assures to not disappoint.

After six seasons of the gang mooching off of Vince’s success, the M.O. of the show changes to individualism and focuses on each character's personal success. Eric (Kevin Connolly), also known as “E”, is getting married and is developing an evermore-blossoming career as an agent. Turtle (Jerry Ferrera) is getting over his most recent, and probably only, serious girlfriend while juggling business and UCLA business school. Johnny “Drama” Chase (Kevin Dillon) is still floundering, hoping and praying for that perfect script that finally launches him into super stardom. And finally there’s the egotistical, yet touching, Ari Gold (Jeremy Piven), who is the self-proclaimed “biggest agent in the world” and strives for more every day.

Season seven started off with a bang this past Sunday (literally) as the new “badass” Vince decides that he needs to start doing his own stunts on the set. Turtle is rejected by his love interest, Drama is rejected by CBS, and when Ari asks Vince's director let him out of the stunt, he is rejected. Vince goes through with the stunt and survives… barely. Season seven looks to be the best yet, employing such cameo appearances by Jerry Jones, Eminem, Bob Saget and John Stamos. With the gang getting older and more mature, season seven guarantees to take audiences off of their feet.

This season promises to be full of excitement seeing that this may be the last installment before producer, writer, and creator Mark Whalberg calls for “Entourage: The Movie”. The combination of companionship, loyalty, and stardom are what makes the show great. The simplicity as well as the depth that each character portrays makes the show very relatable even though the characters live in superior luxury. If you don’t have HBO, I suggest you order it very soon so you can catch this diamond of a television show before it’s off the air forever.
