The East Lindsey Street widening project and renovations to Ellsworth Collings Hall are among items to be considered by the OU Board of Regents at its regular meeting Wednesday, Jan. 27, in Norman.
The meeting is scheduled to begin at approximately 2:30 p.m. in the Associates Room of the Oklahoma Memorial Union, 900 Asp Ave.
Ellsworth Collings Hall was constructed in 1952 and has received only minor upgrades over the past several years, stated OU Public Affairs spokeswoman Catherine Bishop in news release. Proposed renovations include upgrades in flooring, paint and associated finishes in the existing building to complement the finishes in the new addition, which is currently under construction.
Bishop said the request for the granting of easements to the City of Norman and OG&E is associated with the city’s plans to widen a section of East Lindsey Street between the Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad tracks and Jenkins Avenue. The project will reconstruct Lindsey Street to create four traffic lanes and turning lanes in an effort to improve traffic safety and flow through OU’s Brandt Park and Duck Pond area and into the campus academic core, student housing and the Oklahoma Memorial Stadium vicinity.
The next regular meeting of the OU Board of Regents is scheduled for March 24 and 25 in Norman.
