Sophomore forward Caitlin Mooney arrived on campus for the first day of classes after transferring from the University of Maryland.
The 2009 Gatorade Oklahoma Player of the Year in soccer and former member of the U-17 U.S. women's national team will begin playing for the Sooners in the fall.
Mooney said that the opportunity to play closer to family and friends factored into her decision to transfer.
ESPN RISE ranked Mooney as the 37th best recruit in the nation, and she was an ESPN RISE first team All-American.
Mooney played one season at Maryland, appearing in 21 of the teams 22 games and scoring four goals.

I too, was wondering which sport, until I saw she scored four goals and assumed soccer.

It might have been nice had you mentioned what sport she plays. Sorry, I was not previously familiar with her and I suspect I'm not the only one.

I was thinking the exact same thing. I didn't know which sport until I read the last sentence.
