WACO, Texas — Baylor needed only 11 minutes Saturday to end a 32-year losing streak against Oklahoma.

After falling behind in the opening minutes, the Bears used suffocating defense to fuel a 30-6 first-half run and mow down the Sooners 91-60 in both teams' Big 12 conference opener.

LaceDarius Dunn scored 23 of his 28 points in the second half and Tweety Carter added 18 points and 10 assists as Baylor (13-1) ended a 30-game losing streak against Oklahoma (9-6) dating to Dec. 6, 1977.

"The first thing we said in the locker room was that this was for all the former players and coaches who haven't had a chance to beat OU in a long time," said Baylor coach Scott Drew. "That was one of the last thorns we needed to get out of our side."

The rout marked Baylor's largest margin of victory in the series, surpassing an 80-64 win in Norman in 1955, and was the Bears' first series win in Waco since Dec. 14, 1954. Oklahoma had been 26-0 against Baylor since the formation of the Big 12 in 1996.

For Baylor, this one started with defense. And the defense started with junior forward Ekpe Udoh, who had 14 points and eight rebounds, blocked seven shots and altered at least that many.

"He is a huge difference," said Oklahoma coach Jeff Capel, who compared Udoh to 2009 NCAA player of the year Blake Griffin of OU for his all-around skills and ability to make teammates better. "He changes them on both ends of the floor."

The Sooners jumped out to a 20-11 lead in the first nine minutes as Tony Crocker nailed a pair of 3-pointers and Tiny Gallon got loose inside for several easy buckets.

But after an eight-minute delay caused by a power failure that cut all but emergency lights in the Ferrell Center, Baylor stormed back with a 14-0 run to take a 25-20 lead with 8:14 left in the half. Defense fueled the spurt, as the Bears turned a pair of steals and a blocked shot into three fast-break buckets.

Steven Pledger ended the Sooners' 5 1/2-minute drought with a 15-footer from the left baseline, but Baylor closed the half with a 15-2 run that included 3-pointers by Carter, Dunn and A.J. Walton. Walton added a rebound and follow shot at the buzzer that made it 41-26 at the half.

It was Baylor's first halftime lead against the Sooners since November 1998 in Norman.

The Bears, who rank second in the nation in rebounding margin, dominated the Sooners on the boards, 38-26, and held them to 36 percent shooting from the field — their ninth straight opponent to shoot less than 40 percent.

"This is the best Baylor team since I have been here, and the difference is defense," Capel said. "In my first three years, we always felt we could do anything we wanted against them offensively."

Gallon finished with 17 points to lead the Sooners and Crocker added 16.
