Blundell fires 2-under round to lead Sooners after first day
The OU men’s golf team is in 13th place after Sunday’s first round of the Puerto Rico Classic in Rio Grande, Puerto Rico.
The Sooners carded a 4-over-par 292 as the No. 1-ranked Oklahoma State heads into the second round on top of the leaderboard.
The Cowboys shot a 13-under-par 275 to lead No. 10 Texas by two strokes.
Senior Ben Blundell fired a 2-under-par 70 to lead OU and stands in 14th place individually.
Sophomore Ben Klaus, redshirt sophomore Riley Pumphrey and senior Tyler Rody were four shots behind Blundell and are tied for 47th overall.
Junior Liam Logan was a stroke back in a share of 55th place.
OU tees off the second round at 6 a.m. (CT) Monday.

Hockey takes two from UCO over the weekend
The OU hockey team defeated the University of Central Oklahoma twice over the weekend, winning 5-1 Friday and 4-2 Saturday night.
With the victories, the Sooners completed the regular season sweep of UCO, and improved their record to 22-7-5 on the season.
OU was led by forward Brian McCabe, who scored three goals to earn a hat trick Saturday night.
The two teams are scheduled to meet again during the first round of nationals.
The Sooners will close out their regular season against Liberty next weekend at home.
