The OU Track and Field athletes maintain consistent improvements following both the New Balance Invitational last weekend in New York City and the Frank Sevigne Husker Invitational in Lincoln, Nebraska.

Junior Malcolm Anderson competed against Ash to place sixth overall. Both Ash and Anderson have repeatedly placed highly all season. Concerning the women’s hurdling division, Senior Latoya Greaves took third in the event and ran her season’s best time.
Despite this consistent success, Senior Scottesha Miller, was disqualified in the finals of the 60-meter dash following a false start. Before this disqualification, Miller placed first in the event at the Razorback Invitational.
Saturday, longer distance athletes showcased their skills. Redshirt freshmen, Kevin Schwab, won the men’s 3000 meter run with a time of 8:05.22. During the race’s final curve, Schwab increased speed to defeat Villanova runner, Mathew Mildenhall, a former representative for New Zealand in the 2007 World Cross Country Championships. Schwab’s time is the second best in Oklahoma history.
Furthermore, the Sooner 4x400 relay team competed to take second. The team includes Junior Eric Bailey, Junior Remuro Henry, Senior Zach Dawson and Sophomore Mookie Salaam. The runners clocked the eleventh best time in the nation this season. Salaam also finished third in the 200 meter dash.
