Sports brief: Mason-Griffin earns second consecutive Rookie of the Week honor

OU freshman guard Tommy Mason-Griffin was named the Big 12 Men's Basketball Rookie of the Week today for the second consecutive week after his performance against Texas Saturday.

In the Sooners' 80-71 win over the then No. 9-ranked Longhorns, Mason-Griffin tallied a game-high 24 points, while adding five rebounds and four assists in 39 minutes of action.

Mason-Griffin is averaging 13.2 points, 3.0 rebounds and 4.6 assists while shooting a league-best 46.3 percent from three-point range.

In conference play, the freshman is averaging a team-high 18.3 points per game while shooting at a 51.9 percent clip from behind the arc.

Oklahoma plays its next game Tuesday against Texas Tech at 7 p.m. at Lloyd Noble Center.
