OU linebacker Travis Lewis and defensive end Jeremy Beal have been named to the 2010 Lombardi Award preseason watch list.

Lewis, a junior, has been the Sooners' leading tackler in each of the last two seasons, and is 82 tackles shy of being one of the top 10 tacklers in university history. The San Antonio native has started all 27 games of his career.

Beal, a senior from Carrollton, Texas, led the Sooners with 11 sacks in 2009. He enters his final college season with 39.5 career tackles for loss and 20.5 sacks.

Eligibility for the Lombardi Award is limited to down linemen, either on offense or defense, who set up within 10 yards to the left or right of the ball, or linebackers who set up no farther than five yards deep from the line of scrimmage.

The candidates earned a place on the watch list by earning All-American honors, by being named to their respective all-conference first teams as selected by the conference's head coaches or by nomination sent to and reviewed by the nominations committee, according to the organization.

The 41st Rotary Lombardi Award ceremony will be held Dec. 7 and 8 at the George R. Brown Convention Center in Houston, Texas.

OU Lombardi winners:
» Tommie Harris (2003)
» Tony Casillas (1985)
» Lee Roy Selmon (1975)
