Cate trades Cinnabon for pasta
by   |  August 26, 2010  |

Students are taking advantage of Cate ala Carte’s minor face lift that happened during the summer. OU Food Services Director Chuck Weaver said the changes were due to OU Food Management team’s decision to replace Cate’s Cinnabon with Cucina Italiana.

Updates include removing the awning, painting O’Henry’s, expanding the interior seating areas and changing the exterior seating, as well as adding additional menus and signs, Weaver said.

Weaver said he feels like students are taking advantage of the makeover and new restaurant thus far. He said students can order entrees such as chicken Parmesan and traditional favorites like spaghetti and meatballs from Cucina Italiana.

Students have mixed reviews about the makeover. Chemistry and Latin sophomore Antonio Fusco said he misses Cate Main’s art.

“I’m sorry about the murals going, but I like everything else,” Fusco said.

International studies sophomore Rebecca Stevenson said she does not like the remodel.

“I preferred last year,” Stevenson said. “The fig plants were really pretty, as were the murals.”

Though he does not go to Cate often, computer science junior Allen Smith said he’s not happy about Cinnabon being gone, and noticed right away Cinnabon was gone.

“Every once in awhile, I’d go to Cinnabon because you can’t get it anywhere else on campus; it’s mildly annoying,” Smith said.

In the future, management is looking to add additional outdoor seating, Weaver said.
