Senior running back Mossis Madu will sit out OU’s season opener against Utah State for undisclosed reasons, coach Bob Stoops said Tuesday.
In the two-deep depth chart released Monday, Madu was listed as the No. 2 running back behind junior DeMarco Murray, a position that has been up for competition all summer.
Stoops said it has not been decided who will fill the No. 2 spot in Madu’s absence for the Utah State game Sept. 4.
Madu was arrested and charged with the misdemeanor of driving under the influence July 24 in Norman, according to court records.
It is unclear whether that incident is related to Madu’s suspension.
