CROP walk to stop hunger orientation today
by   |  August 23, 2010  |

The Cleveland County Communities Responding to Overcome Poverty Walk to Stop Hunger will kick off its volunteer planning for the CROP Walk with a Team Leader Orientation at 6:30 p.m. today at Food and Shelter for Friends, 104 W. Comanche.

For more than 20 years, the local CROP Walk has allowed participants the opportunity to form teams and raise funds to support Norman’s Food and Shelter for Friends and the international relief efforts of Church World Service, according to the Cleveland County CROP press release.

The Team Leader Orientation will feature a free “Foods-of-Our-World Extravaganza,” with dinner donated by local ethnic cuisine restaurants.

During the orientation, prospective team leaders will hear a short orientation about the three-mile charity walk-a-thon, which will take place Oct. 10. Participants will also receive pledge packets and promotional materials to share with their teams.

To enter, walkers are asked to donate tuna and peanut butter as their walking fee.

For more information about CROP Walk or the Aug. 23 Team Leaders Orientation, contact Brenda Wheelock at 405-620-1305 or visit the local walk website at clevelandcountycropwalk.org.
