The rise of China is "win-win" for both it and the United States, according to a group of Chinese diplomats that spoke at a public conference Friday, April 2, in the Oklahoma Memorial Union's Beaird Lounge.
The tone of the dialogue was cordial and the mutual interests of both countries were emphasized, while sources of conflict were only briefly touched upon.
The dozen or so panelists (most of whom did not have the opportunity to speak, partially due to time constraints) did not sit on any one side in relation to country represented.
After Arts and Science Dean Paul Bell spoke about OU's contributions to relations with China, one diplomat from each country gave a brief summary of major issues in Sino-U.S. relations, and the floor was then opened to questions from the audience of approximately 50 people.
This was the third annual conference held by the Institute for U.S.-China Issues, the first of which was also held in Norman, and second of which was held in China.
