Norman police investigating shooting close to campus

Norman police are investigating a shooting that took place Tuesday night less than a mile east of the University of Oklahoma campus.

According to a news release from Norman police Lt. Gary Shelton, officers received a 911 call at approximately 7:50 p.m. from a female who said she had been shot and then hung up the phone.

Officers responded to 1208 E. Brooks and located a female victim in the front yard who had received one gunshot wound to the chest.

Police said the victim was treated at the scene and transported to Norman Regional Hospital. Her injuries appear to be non life threatening.

Police said one female suspect was taken into custody a short time later.

The incident was forwarded to the Norman Police Department Criminal Investigations Division. No identities have been released as of 12 a.m. Wednesday.
