OU redshirt sophomore defensive tackle Gerald McCoy will return to school at Oklahoma instead of entering the NFL draft, ESPN's Joe Schad is reporting.

"I've decided to stay," McCoy said. "I talked it over with my family and I just don't feel like right now is the time for me to leave. I feel another year would benefit my speed, strength and overall knowledge of the game."

McCoy was a team captain who finished the season with 11 tackles for loss and 6.5 sacks. He had an interception in the Sooners' 24-14 loss to the Florida Gators in the BCS National Championship Game.

He was expected by many draft experts to be one of the first defensive lineman taken in the 2009 NFL Draft.
