Asp Avenue south of Boyd Street was closed Monday night by the OU Police Department and the Norman Fire Department.
Asp Avenue closed when fire trucks came to put out an automobile fire west of the Carson Energy Center at approximately 7:45 p.m.
The vehicle, a Dodge Stratus, was parked on Asp Avenue as Brooke Ward, multidisciplinary studies junior and owner of the vehicle, was inside the Oklahoma Memorial Union waiting to watch the Matt and Kim concert in Meacham Auditorium.
There, she received a phone call from the OU Police Department telling Ward her car was on fire.
Firefighter Ronny Davenport said when he arrived on the scene, he saw smoke coming out of the hood of the car.
After hosing down the front of the car, firefighters opened up the hood and put out the rest of the fire.
Officials are unsure of what started the fire .
