ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. — The Buffalo Bills have selected Oklahoma safety Nic Harris in the fifth round of the NFL draft with the intention of converting him into a linebacker.
Selected 147th overall on Sunday, Harris is listed at 6-foot-2 and 234 pounds. Though predominantly used as a safety, Harris showed versatility by playing several positions, including cornerback, middle and outside linebacker, during a four-year career with the Sooners.
From Alexandria, La., Harris is a solid tackler, who finished with 233 tackles, seven interceptions and 6 1/2 sacks in 51 games, including 37 starts.
The Bills opened the second day of the draft by selecting Southern Miss tight end Shawn Nelson in the fourth round. Buffalo has two picks left, 183rd and 220th.
