What to Watch on TV: Sept. 22 through Sept. 28
by Callie Kavourgias/The Daily  |  September 22, 2008  |

“Heroes” (NBC, Monday, 8 p.m.)

At the end of Volume 2, Nathan was shot during a press conference and Niki became trapped in a burning building. Also, the ultimate villain, Sylar, had regained his powers. Hopefully Volume 3, titled “Villains,” will be more like the amazing Volume 1 and less like Volume 2, in which it always felt like something was off.

“Opportunity Knocks” (ABC, Tuesday, 7 p.m.)

A new game show, produced by Ashton Kutcher, in which the host knocks on the door of a pre-screened family and sets up a game show on their front lawn. The family members are asked questions about each other with the possibility of winning prizes and thousands of dollars. For example, three girls are brought in and the mother is asked, “Which one of these girls was the first that your teenage son kissed on the mouth” or they send the little brother to search in his sister’s room for her diary. Mortifying for them, but hilarious for us.

“The Office” (NBC, Thursday, 8 p.m.)

In last season’s finale Jim decided to propose to Pam at the carnival, but Andy stole Jim’s thunder by proposing to Angela first. At the end of the episode, Phyllis caught Dwight and Angela naked in the office together. Season four was less than stellar, but hopefully season five doesn’t disappoint.

“Grey’s Anatomy” (ABC, Thursday, 8 p.m.)

In last season’s amazing finale nearly everyone kissed someone. Callie and Erica. Alex and Izzie. The Chief and Adele. Lexie and George. And finally, Derek kissed a “whole and healed” Meredith. In the promo for this season Rose tells Derek she’s pregnant. Maybe Mer and Der won’t get a happily-ever-after after all, at least not the same one Meredith mapped out with candles in last season’s finale.

“Desperate Housewives” (ABC, Sunday, 8 p.m.)

“Desperate Housewives” took a page out of “One Tree Hill’s” book by fast-forwarding. Season five begins five years later, where we see Lynette’s twins have grown up and become delinquents, Gaby has twins, Orson and Bree are back together and Mike is nowhere to be seen, for Susan has a new man. Edie also returns after being gone from Wisteria Lane for five years.
