No arrests yet in stabbing of two athletes
by   |  September 3, 2008  |

The Norman Police Criminal Investigations Division is investigating the brawl that injured two OU athletes at a party Sunday morning.

Currently, no one has been arrested and no charges have been filed.

According to Capt. Leonard Judy, police do not have any reason to believe Ray Willis, a freshman guard on the OU men’s basketball team, and Frank Alexander, a redshirt freshman on the OU football team, instigated the fight that left three people injured.

Willis and Alexander were both stabbed and a third victim, Rachel Taylor, 19, of Norman, was struck by a car during the incident.

Alexander and Taylor were treated and released from Norman Regional Hospital on Sunday. Hospital administrators said they had no record of Willis being admitted.

Alexander was in class Tuesday with his arm in a sling.

Judy said the police are still investigating the fight, which occurred during a private party at Sooner Knights, 1309 24th Ave. SW.

He said the brawl began when people who were not on the party’s guest list arrived but were denied admittance. They attacked some of the guests, including Willis and Alexander.

When police arrived at the scene, the stabbing victims and suspects were gone.

While at the scene, police received reports that two stabbing victims arrived at Norman Regional Hospital in a privately-owned vehicle.

The police also received reports that shots had been fired at the scene before they arrived. Judy said it is unclear who fired the shots.

Terran Jason McCabe, 27, was arrested for carrying a concealed weapon at the address of the fight. Judy said police do not think his case is related to the brawl, and is no longer being investigated.
