No Place Like Home...

MEAL PLAN OPTIONS:

As an incoming freshman, your dining needs are satisfied by the 20+ on-campus restaurants as well as the nearby restaurants in Norman. With chain restaurants and Norman specialty eateries, no one goes hungry!

All freshmen are required to have a meal plan (which is included in the room and board cost), but there’s a plan for everyone.

Housing and Food Services also offers Enhanced Meal Plans, Block Meals and Commuter Meals. For details, please visit http://housing.ou.edu.

HOW TO DEAL WITH ROOMMATE ISSUES:

For many students, college brings the new experience of sharing space. While this is an exciting time, sometimes adjusting is a process. OU students are welcome to select roommates (two people per room, four per suite), or go “pot-luck” and have a roommate paired to them based on lifestyle similarities after completing a preference survey.

Each floor has a designated Resident Advisor (R.A.) to act as a guide and help resolve any roommate conflicts that could arise.

WHERE TO DO LAUNDRY:

Trading in your high school days for college life has its perks, but unfortunately the days of your mom doing your laundry are over!

Adams, Couch and Walker Centers are all equipped with Sooner Sense* and coin-operated laundry rooms in the tower basements. Cate Center residents can enjoy a centrally-located laundromat seconds from their dorm room.

Tip: Use the OneCard to do laundry. Loads will only cost $1 each whereas paying with quarters will cost $1.25 a load.

*Sooner Sense is activated through your Sooner OneCard (student ID), and acts as a debit card at many on-campus

locations. For more information, please visit http://housing.ou.edu.

Here’s what other students had to say about their experiences in the dorms:

1. “I loved living in the dorms because I was in such close walking distance to all of my friends. I lived on a floor where we were all very close to each other. The day I moved in I gained about 10 new best friends. Freshman year was great because everyone was looking for new friends, and so I got out of my comfort zone and learned to start conversations with people I would have been too shy to talk to before. I ended up making friends with people I hope I will talk to for the rest of my life.”

-Meg Brandon, Art History Senior

2. “The dorms were a great place to watch away games on TV, hang out with friends and meet girls.”

-Colton Redding, Pre-Med Senior

3. “I loved my hallmates! We’d help each other get ready for date parties and borrow each others’ clothes – it was like having a huge hall-sized closet! Sharing really brought us together and helped create some of my favorite memories in college.”

-Jordyn Eckert, Public Relations Junior
