Basketball player arrested at Wal-Mart
by   |  July 18, 2008  |

Jenna Plumley, a starting junior point guard for the OU women’s basketball team, was arrested Monday morning on suspicion of petty larceny.

Plumley, 20, was arrested at 11:57 a.m. Monday at a Norman Wal-Mart, located at 601 12th Ave. NE, according to the Norman police incident log.

Plumley was cited by a Wal-Mart employee after allegedly attempting to steal cosmetic items, according to Captain J.D. Younger of the Norman Police Department.

“She was released at the scene,” Younger said. “No mugshot, no handcuffs, nothing like that. It’s like getting a speeding ticket, only for petty larceny.”

Plumley started all 31 games for the Sooners last season, averaging 7.8 points per game with 103 assists.

“I know [women’s basketball coach Sherri] Cole is aware of the situation and she will handle the matter internally,” Senior Associate Athletic Director Kenny Mossman said.

Cole was unavailable for comment.
