With eight massage therapists on hand, Massage and Day Spa is the perfect place to stop in for a nice rub down. The spa has served Norman for 13 years and caters to stressed-out students.

“We customize massages to fit the individual,” said office manager Ashton Miller. “Once they come in and meet with a therapist we will customize the massage to fit their needs.”

Miller said the average cost for a full body service at Massage and Day Spa is approximately $60. She said the shop also offers special massage packages and gift cards.

Massage therapy is a great way to achieve overall health and wellness during times of stress, Miller said. She suggested that students take a break during finals week to get a massage.

The goal at Massage and Day Spa is “to effectively integrate and balance all proven methods of healing, cleansing, relaxation and rejuvenation” and, according to Miller, a nice treat in the midst of chaos.

Pilates Plus may be know for its tangling fitness classes, but the shop is also a central for massage therapy.

With four massage therapists who specialize in the specific needs of their clients, the shop is sure to work out almost any knot.

Diana Morgan, Pilates Plus massage therapist, said a variety of massage techniques are offered at Pilates Plus. She said her specialization is clinical and sports massage but almost any type of therapy could be found at the shop.

“What massage is good at doing is helping people relax,” Morgan said. “It helps our nervous system calm down in a fast paced world.”

Morgan said massage therapy at Pilates Plus ranges from $55-70 depending on the type of treatment.

“When student are really stressed and under so much pressure, taking the time to get a massage will enhance their well being so that they will function better during exams,” Morgan said.

“Zen” is the perfect word to describe this full service salon. At Salon Zen, not only can clients get tailored massages, they can also take care of almost any beauty-related need.

Johnna Laird, Salon Zen massage therapist, said the salon has been in business for around five years and is devoted to creating a tranquil atmosphere for customers.

She said a typical massage at the salon costs $65 and lasts an hour.

“Massages make you feel so much better,” Laird said. “[A massage] increases healing time 40 to 60 percent faster and decreases tension and stress.”

Laird said Salon Zen is the perfect place for students to come and relax during finals week.

“Massage is a nice way to relax and decrease a little bit of stress during tests,” Laird said. “Everyone is studying and reading and it is a good way to take a break.”
