OU beats Chattanooga 57-2
by by   |  August 30, 2008  |

In its season opener, OU only took two minutes and 28 seconds to score and didn't look back from there.

Junior running back Chris Brown ran in a six-yard touchdown to start the 57-2 rout of the Tennessee-Chattanooga Mocs.

After Chattanooga punted a second time early in the first quarter, sophomore running back DeMarco Murray put in a one-yard touchdown after a long drive to put OU up 14-0.

It didn't take long for OU to score again. Sophomore quarterback Sam Bradford connected with senior wide receiver Quentin Chaney for a three-yard touchdown reception.

All day long, the Mocs were swarmed by a tenacious OU defensive front which gave up only 36 yards.

OU hung 50 by halftime, and then a 72-minute rain delay took its course.

Chattanooga scored its only points on a second-half safety that was the result of a poor snap.

The Sooners will next play host to the Cincinnati Bearcats at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 6.
