OU basketball player Blake Griffin was cited and released for outraging public decency early Thursday morning.
Norman Police Capt. Kevin Foster said he did not know the specific reason for Griffin’s citation, but according to Section 15-411 of the Norman Municipal Code, outraging public decency is defined as “an act which openly outrages public decency, including, but not limited to, urinating or defecating” in public.
The incident occurred near a fraternity house on the 700 block of College Avenue.
Griffin did not return phone calls from The Daily.
Other police briefs
A fight occurred at about 1 a.m. Saturday at the OU Armory during a party.
Alpha Kappa Alpha sorority hosted the event, a party called AKAmplete Infat08tion, said Nancy Burroughs, the sorority’s graduate advisor.
OUPD Lt. Bruce Chan confirmed that there was a disturbance and that OU police officers were involved in breaking it up.
He said no report was taken and no arrests were made.
“It has been resolved,” Chan said.
Burroughs declined to comment on the incident. “All I can tell you with regards to the party is that it was a wonderful event,” she said.
Police raided a dorm room where students were allegedly smoking marijuana early Saturday morning.
“We just woke up at 2:30 to screaming,” said Lucas Rice, University College freshman, who lives on the 10th floor of Couch Center.
Ryan Banguess, University College freshman, who also lives on the 10th floor, said he was awake when the incident occurred. He said he heard people in the room talking to police and smelled marijuana smoke.
OUPD officers did not return phone calls from The Daily about the incident.
