OU/Texas tickets went on sale Tuesday morning causing students to rise early and log on to purchase them. By 3:00 that afternoon the ticket office was only 500 sales short of selling out Kenny Mossman, senior associate athletic director/communications said. But not everyone who bought a ticket is planning on going to the game. Some students have every intention of jacking up the price and selling that baby.
An OU/Texas student tickets face value is $85, if you buy it online, $88, but some students are planning to turn around and sell theirs for much more.
Last year I sold mine on EBay for $300, said Colette Maytubby, accounting senior.
Im going to try to get that much again this year.
It seems that one could separate the real fans from those fair-weather season ticket holders when this game comes around, seeing as how students can only purchase a ticket for the Red River Shootout if they have season tickets. There are those who love football, and then there are those who love football, but maybe love money just a little more.
I personally couldnt put a price on my ticket, business senior Brent Ward said. I just love the intensity of the game and the experience.
Some students use the money they make from selling their ticket to pay for their trip to Dallas. They still want to be involved in the festivities of the weekend, but need the cash from their ticket to fund those. From the pandemonium of nightlife to the Texas State Fair, OU/Texas weekend can be expensive, so some students are willing to sacrifice their tickets to be part of the atmosphere.
