Eat well: tips for healthier eating in college

In The Dorm Room Diet, Daphne Oz offers tips for successful, healthy eating in college. These are just some of her suggestions:

The Five Principles
Always have breakfast.
Drink half your body weight in ounces of water daily.
Eat at least every three hours.
Count to your age before you cheat.
Avoid eating within two hours of sleep.

Worth cheating for:
A small slice of birthday cake
Homemade brownies or cookies
Dessert after a nice dinner out with friends or family
Grilled cheese

What about counting calories?
The ideal number varies from person to person
Extra calories should come from complex carbohydrates and proteins rather than fats
If you are an athlete or are expending large amounts of energy through vigorous exercise, you will need to increase the amount of calories taken in
