Norman's own Evangelicals introduce their first album "So Gone," that gives a local feel to a professional-sounding production.
This is the band's debut album that was picked up by Misra records and re-released recently after a second cut.
It provides great party music with its vocalizing, tasty guitar solos and eratic computer synth sounds.
Though the freshman album has several gems, some tracks fail to add anything new to the indie music scene. The boiling pot of freeform rhythms and sounds sometimes cancel each other out.
However, the majority of "So Gone" holds its own and distinguishes itself from other local freeform bands.
Occasionally, the lyrics stand out on their own, bringing the Evangelicals into an even broader scope of comparison, outside the confines of the local scene.
A national feel deserves national attention.
Evangelicals' bassist Kyle Davis, professional writing senior , said he is taking the fall semester off to tour with the band.
The band is traveling to Austin, Seattle, Denver, and San Francisco and other locations for shows on their upcoming tour on the west coast, Davis said.
"We are doing a little west coast tour until August," Davis said. "And the numbers are going through on a national tour in October."
The CD will earn its place on a CD rack, but it doesn't have the air-guitar replay value of other bands.
