Knehans prompts students to 'get active'
by   |  July 28, 2006  |

Camp Crimson event Namesake had students of the Knehans family learning school spirit and nutrition.

Namesake Jean Knehans, a faculty-in-residence and Norman North English teacher, presented students with the facts of life Friday in Nielsen Hall.

Her husband Allen, who signed them up for the camp, said he was unexpectedly called away on business.

"This is the most exciting time of your life," she said.

She told students how college is the one part of her life she would go back and relive.

Knehans lectured students on everything from school spirit to her husband's class and achievements.

She left students with a few words of wisdom.

"Get active and enjoy your time at OU," she said.

Knehans' campers thought the session was cool.

"It was interesting learning about an important family," said Lacey Osgood, incoming freshman from Colleyville, Texas.

The counselors really liked Knehans.

"She's really friendly, and she's really energetic," said Vincent Winston, camp counselor and public affairs and administration sophomore.

The session ended the same way all Camp Crimson events start: "Boomer!" "Sooner!"
